It’s hard to say. I could see it leading to a situation with a declining share of the population participating in the work force, particularly as the overall population gets older. They’d be “caught” by a patchwork safety net of assistance, retirement pensions, and stuff like disability payments.

But it could otherwise lead to tons of new jobs, and smarter computers might actually level the playing field again in favor of people with less education. Mechanization has done this before, like with the first wave of industrialization in the late 18th century. You might see entirely new types of work, often taking an aspect of a more general previous job and creating a new specialty out of it.
